I can’t fault La Plagne, the ski area is fantastic and there are loads of blue and reds. I don’t think there are any greens but we were all sort of intermediate level skiers and it was brilliant for us. We skied loads the first week, went back the next year to ski more and will go back to ski the rest, it’s such a massive ski area I really can’t knock it! The town is quiet and more family orientated which is exactly what we wanted, I especially like the Belle Plagne area.

Large ski area No negative aspects!

Belle Plagne is probably the best of the places to stay in La Plagne. High and good links up to the Roche de Mio esp if you get on the telecabin as soon as it opens. If you are a beginner snowboarder avoid Le Tunnel as there is a lot of flat on this run so you'll end up walking quite a bit. Arpette is a nice wide blue for beginners although it gets quite steep as you descend into Bellecote. Riding most of the blue runs with my 2 children in a mixed ability group was pleasant and easy enough to do.

La Plagne probably once worked rather well as a resort but not so much any more. I have visted a number of the resorts that make up the La Plagne ski area and have noticed it getting more and more busy each year. When the original hubs of Plagne Centre, Bellecote and Aime La Plagne were constructed lifts ran from these resorts to the top of the slopes. More recently La Plagne has gravitated up the mountain with the creation of Plagne Soleil, Plagne Villages and Belle Plagne. None of these resorts (possibly with the exception of Belle Plagne) have direct access to the top of the slopes so the only way to move about is to ski down to the original hubs to gain height. This results in cronically

Stayed in Belle Pagne during mid-term. Had an excellent time! You hardly ever ski the same run twice in the same day and, because of the many valleys, you always feel you are 'going somewhere' and not just skiing up and down runs in a bowl. Most of the key chair lifts are high speed detachable ones and pretty much all the lifts connect well and the queues were usually short to non-existent even at half term. Great variety of runs from the high alps to the middle motorways to the tree lined lower runs. Ski-in/out convenience was spot on, the village was traffic free and they have done a decent job of giving a new place some character.

Just got back from Montalbert, super conditions, 2nd time in montalbert, with a complete beginner, myself an ok skier and a dare devil skier!!! we all had more than enough to keep us occupied, the only thing i can complain about is how expensive it was to go out and eat, but that i think is brought on by our looming credit crunch!!! would recommend Montalbert to anyone, a throughly enjoyed ski holiday!!!

Modern lift system No negative aspects!
