Trip-timing decision support: choose a resort, compare recent observed winters with its long-run snow-and-temperature climatology,…
Choose a resort to load the long-run climate signal.
The planner will identify the stronger and weaker parts of the season.
Observed winters remain separate from the long-run climatology.
Explain this ski area in Season Reliability →Snow Planner is the trip-timing tool in the snow-intelligence set. It keeps actual recent winter observations separate from the long-run climate baseline. Each row is a winter season and each colored month card represents November through April. The default view shows average mountain snow depth; the climatology mode colors each month by its percentage difference from the long-run mountain-snow baseline. “More details” adds mountain maximum plus average and maximum valley snow depth without changing the calendar layout.
Observed monthly values come from daily snow reports for the selected resort. December observations before mid-month are excluded to reduce early-season reporting artefacts. Long-run climate is read separately from historical weekly climatology.
Snow-sure ranking compares individual resorts over a fixed core-winter window. Season Reliability explains the canonical ski-area climate score for any November–April span. Snow Planner uses both concepts to help time a specific resort trip.
