Measure how dependable a ski area is during the exact part of winter you plan…
Complete span coverage required.
Average 0–100 reliability for the selected population and travel span.
Typical lowest month. A stronger floor means less timing risk.
Mountain and valley depth plus daytime and overnight temperature. Snow level is supporting context, not weighted.
The score uses normalized historical climate components. If a component is unavailable, the remaining weights are proportionally reweighted.
The headline is the average monthly reliability across your chosen span. The weakest month and month-to-month variability remain separate so a strong midwinter peak cannot hide weak shoulder-season conditions.
Compare up to four ski areas here for climate reliability. Add promising representative resorts to Benchmark to continue with current conditions, terrain and decision fit. The climate comparison keeps the full November–April profile visible so you can see whether two similar averages have very different shoulder-season risk.
This is more than snow depth. Every month combines mountain snow depth (45%), valley snow depth (25%), typical daytime high temperature (20%) and overnight low temperature (10%). Temperature acts as a historical preservation/melt-pressure signal.
Mountain snow reaches 100 component-points at about 180 cm; valley snow at about 80 cm. Daytime temperature scores progressively better below 6°C and reaches 100 at −4°C. Overnight temperature improves below 1°C and reaches 100 at about −8°C. Each component is capped to 0–100 before weighting.
Historical snow level is displayed as supporting evidence but is deliberately not yet included in the score.
Snow-sure ranking answers “which individual resorts have the strongest broad core-winter historical record?” using a fixed W52–W10 ranking with depth, high-snow persistence, variability, temperature, altitude and outlier controls.
Snow Planner answers “when should I travel to this resort?” by putting recent observed winters beside the long-run climate baseline.
Season Reliability answers “how dependable is this ski area during my exact travel span?”
