I took my family to Courchevel 1650 for half term in February 2007. This is the third time we have been there so I consider myself a bit of an expert on this resort. We drive and arrive early on Saturday morning to get the best conditions and the most time on the snow. 1650 provides the combination of convenient ski to the door accommodation, quiet slopes and a lack of queues at reasonable cost. It is much quieter than 1850 and the lifts have recently been upgraded so there are rarely queues. In 1650 there are some lovely blue and red runs which are much quieter than those in 1850. The reds to the new Chapelets lift are particularly enjoyable and always quiet. It is simple to get over to 185

Had two holidays last year in the Three Valleys: Meribel with a set of friends for a long weekend and February half-term week with my family at Courchevel 1650. For a relatively quiet, family friendly environment 1650 is ideal. We stayed in an apartment at Residence 1650 a block of apartments right next to the Ariondaz cable car and were able to ski to the door. We used Agence 1650 and found the whole process of looking for apartments, booking on-line, picking up keys etc very easy. Prices at bars and restaurants are much more reasonable than other parts of Courchevel while still retaining a "Frenchness" which can be lacking in places such as Meribel. The main attraction is that 1650 offers

The Courchevel collection of resorts would be difficult to beat for me. What one doesnt have, can easily be accessed at another. 2 downsides: long transfer time from Geneva; and doesnt match the Austrian atmosphere. Courchevel generally is absolutely fantastic but 1850 is very expensive. 1550 is a lot cheaper with a few nice restuarants and has a bubble lift right into the heart of 1850. I had lessons with New Generation Ski School in 1650 (they run classes in 1850 & Meribel too) and I have to say that they were fantastic. In 5 lessons I went from nervously snowploughing down green runs to paralleling down reds. Great skiing, excellent access to miles and miles of piste and off-piste. Good r

Couchevel is a playground for skiers and boarders - literally hundreds of runs to try out and can ski straight down into meribel or over to val thorens for even more choice. you can spend a fortnight here and never ski the same run twice! snow was great when we first arrived but blue skies and sun all week so got quite icy. still, not bad for early season.
