Found Risoul to be the most underrated place I have visited. Never waited more than a couple of minutes for any lift. We were also spoilt by the very good snowfalls that preceded our stay. The ski area offers a great selection of runs and the linked resort of Vars is easily reached and well worth visiting, something I did daily. I found it best to go to the sunny slopes of Vars in the morning and Risoul in the afternoon.

Excellent beginners and children area (lifts for beginners free) Good resort can ski over to Vars (intermediate or above only) Vars is not as nice as Risoul and you will want to come back. Lacks mountain Cafes but the atmosphere in the resort is Very Good. The Cherin bar is well worth a visit. Lots of the accommodation is ski in/out which is a great plus. Risoul represents great value for money and has plenty of doorstep skiing to suit all abilities. All in all an excellent resort with good snow conditions and well-prepared slopes where you are almost alone, no lift-queues! The only disadvantage is that it is 3hrs + from the airport

Together with Vars it offers a great variety of pistes, and nice off-piste slopes. The snow conditions were quite OK (50-120cms), the temperatures were just around 0 celsius. The connections among the pistes are praising as well. Risoul is quite small, but very pleasant. You can ski to the door of most apartments (a great advantage after a days hard skiing!!). Apres ski is great with many activities, partying is fantastic especially chez Jeti bar.
